Day in and day out, year after year, Ruth has been a faithful team member. Dedication of four and a half decades is beyond remarkable. But then again, so is Ruth Rouse.

Thank you for your years of service, quick wit, and knowledge of all things estimating.

We will miss her, but we wish her well as she starts this new phase in her life.

Join me as we say “See you soon”, to Ruth!

Craig Myers, Chairman/CEO, presented Ruth Rouse with the Service Award Retirement plaque for 44 years of service, dedication, and commitment to excellence.

Ruth Rouse

In 1978, a young Ruth Rouse joined the Watson Electrical team at the Central Warehouse as a secretary who priced material requisitions and tracked outside sales. She quickly learned that Watson was a family and knew she had found the right place for her. She enjoyed her work, but her coworkers made her feel at home.

Hard work earned her a promotion in 1979. Ruth became an estimating coordinator for the Estimating Department at Corporate, where she excelled and found her long-term career path.

“I met Ruth on my first day in our Marketing division in 1981. Ruth was so helpful to me then and has been more so over the years. She has been a fixture in the industry for her knowledge of marketing and for providing corporate information required for our day-to-day bidding. Ruth is the true meaning of Watson family. We will miss her greatly and welcome her back as often as she can.” Craig Myers, Chairman/CEO

With her vast knowledge, speed, and accuracy, Ruth became a central point of contact in estimating. In 2003, when her responsibilities grew, she became a Sales & Marketing Administrator. Her new role allowed Ruth to work with Special Marketing, estimators, and preconstruction.

Over the years, she has experienced a gambit of changes in the Electrical Construction industry. But it was the advent and adoption of computers that Ruth says was the most significant change. “Where everything used to be paper and pencil, now is handled on a tablet and an app.”, Ruth said.

Ruth attributes her longevity at Watson to the great people, the support from the company, and their trust in her to succeed.

“It has been a pleasure working with Ruth since I came to Watson 20 years ago. As a new Division Manager with no Watson history, she was always there to help me in any way possible as I learned our marketing and bid processes. She welcomed me as part of the Watson family. We will all surely miss Ruth, and I know our customers will also. There have been many occasions where the customer has commented, ‘We love Ruth! Her attention to detail is second to none!’ Enjoy retirement!” Rick Allard, COO

In retirement, Ruth plans to spend time at the NC beach, resting and being with her family.
