Virginia – Watson Electrical Construction Co LLC – Virginia (WECC) has been awarded the 2018 Honor Award of Excellence – Electrical Project from the ABC Virginia Hampton Roads Chapter for the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital vertical expansion and renovation project.
The ABC-VA Hampton Roads Chapter Excellence in Construction (EIC) is the acknowledgment of outstanding workmanship in the construction industry. Each year, construction companies in Virginia compete to be recognized by ABC as having demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship on a project, typically highlighting how they overcame challenges.
This year’s entry from WECC was challenging in that part of the project was to upgrade the existing electrical services and emergency generators to support the added floors while keeping the existing hospital operational. This being a hospital, it was particularly difficult because an unexpected power interruption could have put a patient’s life in jeopardy. This has been a very successful project for Sentara, Whiting-Turner, and Watson Electrical Construction Co. LLC.
“I am very proud of our Sentara team in the way they worked in concert with Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Whiting-Turner, and other subcontractors to ensure that there were no unplanned interruptions of patient services as the expansion areas were brought to life. Equally impressive was the team’s ability to work together, both in plan and action, for a common goal of executing this very complex project. A job well done to all those involved!” said Rick Allard, VA Regional Vice President of WECC. #WatsonExcellence
