Team Watson: Our Summer in Action

A look inside our season of team moments, giving back, and growth

Summer at Watson has been full of energy, connection, and growth — both on and off the jobsite. From welcoming a new class of interns to celebrating milestone anniversaries, enjoying family outings across our divisions, and supporting the communities we call home, our team has made the most of the season. Keep reading for a look at some of the moments that made this summer one to remember.

Welcoming Our 2025 Summer Interns

One of the highlights of every summer at Watson is welcoming the next generation of talent to our team. This year, we were proud to have Jacori and Matt join us at our Corporate Office as our 2025 Summer Interns. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and drive made a meaningful impact across departments.

Throughout the summer, they gained hands-on experience in the Prefab shop, shadowed our estimating team, learned the ins and outs of operations from our Wilson Division Manager, and spent time on active jobsites. Their time with us not only contributed to the work we do every day but also gave them a well-rounded view of the many career paths available in the electrical construction industry.

Celebrating Together at Family Outings

At Watson, putting people first means creating opportunities to connect beyond the jobsite. This summer, our teams came together for some well-deserved fun at our annual Family Outings — with the Charlotte team enjoying a night at the Charlotte Knights baseball game, and the Winston Salem team gathering to cheer on the Greensboro Grasshoppers. These events are more than just a good time; they strengthen relationships, celebrate our shared accomplishments, and include the families who support our team every step of the way.

Honoring Milestone Anniversaries

At Watson, we believe that dedicated people are the foundation of everything we build — and nothing brings us more pride than celebrating the employees who’ve helped shape our company year after year. While every work anniversary is significant, we were especially honored to recognize several major milestones this summer. Congratulations to:

10 Year Anniversary: Laura Marshburn and Wilson Pierce

15 Year Anniversary: Marcus Wheeley

20 Year Anniversary: Timmy Herms and Jerry Thompson

We’re proud to have team members whose commitment spans decades, and we’re grateful for the lasting impact they continue to make.

Supporting the Communities We Call Home

Giving back is a core part of who we are at Watson. We’re proud to stay connected to the communities we serve — not just through our work, but through service, sponsorships, and support. This summer, our teams found meaningful ways to get involved, lending their time and resources to make a local impact:

  • Susan and Annette from our Wilson Corporate Office helped kick off summer by hosting an ice cream social for the teachers at B.O. Barnes Elementary School.
  • We sponsored a hole at the Chippin’ For The Children golf tournament, which supported The CHEW and The SPOT — two incredible programs ensuring kids in Wilson County have access to healthy food, after-school care, and a safe, welcoming space.
  • Our teams also connected with peers in the electrical construction industry by attending the Carolinas Electrical Contractors Association Annual Convention and the ABC Carolinas Annual Convention.

Whether volunteering, sponsoring, or showing up to strengthen our industry, we’re proud to support the communities and causes that matter most.

As summer winds down, we’re grateful for the connections, growth, and memories made across our teams and communities. From the jobsite to the ballpark, and everywhere in between, this season has reminded us what it means to be part of something bigger. We’re already looking forward to what’s ahead.
